David Artell expects another tough assignment against a newly promoted side. Crewe overcame Leyton Orient in dramatic fashion on Tuesday night with midfielder James Jones scoring a last minute winner in London and now we face another of the teams promoted from the National League last season.
Graham Alexander’s Salford City side will be looking to build on what was a very good win over Grimsby Town on Tuesday evening.
Ahead of our game this weekend, Artell told us: “I think Salford will be a bit similar to Orient in the fact that they are still trying to find their feet at this level. They have some players who are at League Two level and perhaps higher and they have earned their place in the Football League.
“It doesn’t matter however that has come about with the investment made or whatever; it is still difficult to win promotions.
“It will be another tough challenge for us with the qualities they have. They have a very experienced manager in Graham and he will know about us and what we like to do and don’t do, so he will be making it as difficult as he can for us.
“We are at home and are on a decent run and we want that to continue. We can only go into the game with confidence and a belief that if we play to our standard that we will win the game.”
