Crewe Alexandra's David Artell is one of four Managers nominated for the Sky Bet Manager of the Month award for August 2019.

A fine opening month of the campaign saw the Alex win four of six league matches to occupy a top three position in the table alongside fellow nominees Mike Flynn (Newport) & Matt Taylor (Exeter).

Mike Jolley (Grimsby) completes the quartet, with his side sitting in fourth in the table at the end of August.

The summer recruitment of strikers James Hanson and Matt Green has given his side a cutting edge that was absent last season. With 13 goals, his side were League Two’s leading scorers in August, collecting 11 points.

Matt Taylor (Exeter City)

Three times in August his side plundered a winning goal in the final five minutes of a match. That turned an average start into an outstanding one with 14 points from six games. Has his players fit and hungry to mount a promotion challenge.
