Boss encouraging people to come & be 'entertained' by his 'footballing' Crewe team
David Artell has put out a rallying cry to the local community to come along and get a taste of the action at Gresty Road with his side currently enjoying their finest start to the season since the mid-90s.
The team manager wants people to come along & be entertained by his 'footballing' Crewe Alexandra side, starting with tomorrow's Sky Bet League Two match with Cambridge United.
If Crewe win, then this will be the Club's best start to a league season in 70 years since the 1949-50 campaign & will cement the place in the top three of the early league table.
Artell said: “I’d like to think we’re doing our bit, but then I’m not going to tell people how to spend their hard earned money if they haven’t got it.
“At the same time, if you’re a football person, you’re certainly not going to see a better footballing League Two team. That’s not just me saying that, that’s a lot of the opposition managers we’ve come up against saying it.
“If you want to come out & be entertained, then why not?
“We’ve got to make sure we win, because that’s what fans want to see, but we’ve also got to make sure we entertain & also give them a good experience.
“I think anyone who came at home last year when we won 15 games would have seen that. Yes there were a few disappointing results in there, but anyone who came to a majority of the games will have seen a Crewe team that might give them a warm glow inside – and I think that’s continued both home & away this year.
“So anyone who is wondering or thinking about it then go ahead & take the plunge.”
If you've been hearing good things about the team recently, or been umming & ahhing whether to come along - take the leap of faith & back the boys this month against Cambridge & Salford City over the next two Saturdays!
