Wide man, Daniel Powell faces a race against time to be fit to be involved against Port Vale this weekend. The former MK Dons and Northampton forward has not featured since picking up an ankle injury in the 4-2 win over Carlisle – a game in which he opened his goalscoring account for the club with a wonderful strike.
Powell has been working tirelessly over the last couple of weeks on his fitness and the club’s assistant manager, Kenny Lunt, has revealed that a recent scan has been positive news.
Ahead of this weekend’s eagerly anticipated home game against the Valiants, Lunt said: “Daniel is further on than Olly (Lancashire) and his scan came back with positive news.
“I would say he is touch and go for the weekend and we will manage him this week and see how he is later on in the week. It is difficult to put a time frame on it because he is just feeling some discomfort when he strikes the ball a certain way.
“It is just a question of whether that will heal in time.”
