"No Better Incentive For Us Than to Remain Top"

31 October 2019

Lunt says three points against local rivals would only enhance confidence further

Kenny Lunt has told crewealex.net that there is no better incentive to winning the first local derby of the season than remaining top of the league. The club’s assistant manager says the challenge is there for the Alex players to set a marker by winning what is always a tough fixture against our local neighbours.

Port Vale defeated Crewe 1-0 twice last season and Lunt says that recent lean spell against the Valiants has to improve this weekend.

Lunt told the club’s official website: “There is no better incentive for us than winning the game and making sure we stay at the top of the league.

“We want to stay where we are and there is no better way to do that than winning against our local rivals. We want the bragging rights for our fans and we want the three points to keep the momentum going.

“We are hoping it will be another good crowd at the ground and we want to put a performance on for our fans because we feel we haven’t done that in the last two games against Pot Vale.”
