Kenny Lunt has told the club’s official website than a change in mentality and belief has been the major shift resulting in our surge up the League Two table.
The vastly experienced Lunt, who play for Crewe, Sheffield Wednesday and Hereford before indulging in his passion for coaching, says that no-one here is getting carried away with our current position but he stresses that the aim is to stay there.
Lunt told crewealex.net: “The mentality has changed and there is real belief there now because they are achieving good things and getting results. The belief changed at around Christmas time and they have taken that into this season. The players are top of the league on merit and they have to keep that going.
“They have the belief now that even if they go behind in a game that they can come back and win the game. They believe that they will create and score goals and they believe that they can keep going and score late goals.
“When you look at teams who have been successful they have all had that, they keep going to the end and they don’t know when they are beaten. They know they if they keep on playing their football that they are good enough to grind the opposition down and those opportunities will come.
The assistant manager added: “We are top of the league and its great but rest assured no-one here is getting carried away with anything. We know that nothing is won at this stage. They know they have a lot of hard work ahead of them and we have a good bunch here and they keep everyone’s feet firmly on the ground.”
