Boss Wants Us To Take The Lead More Often

15 October 2019

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell was pleased that his side took the lead at Carlisle United on Saturday and then went 2-0 up before being pegged back by the Cumbrians.

Crewe responded magnificently to score a further two goals and win the game 4-2. The Alex boss told his players before the weekend that he wanted them to take the lead in games and not have to give ourselves a mountain to climb.

The Railwayme have had to fight back from a goal down against the likes of Oldham, Crawley, Bradford, Cheltenham and Exeter to get something from the game.

David told crewealex.net: “It is important to get used to leading in games. It was nice to go 1-0, 2-0 up at Carlisle instead of coming from behind and giving ourselves a mountain to climb.

“I told the players before the game that we should try and go ahead and get used to being in control of games.

“We are the top of the league at the moment and its great and all that but I want us to be top after 46 games. The next stage for us is to make sure that we stay top for a while by consistently picking up results.”
