Boss: "Powell Has A Strong Character And Is Working His Socks Off For The Team"

1 October 2019

David Artell says that the form of his summer signing Daniel Powell is not causing him too much concern because the former Northampton and MK Dons forward continues to work hard for the team.

Powell, 28, is yet to get off the mark for his new club but it is not for the want of trying and he has been unlucky not to have scored at least three or four with the chances he has had. He has hit opposition goalkeepers in form, seen defenders clear efforts off the line and hit the woodwork in various games!

Powell was substituted at Cheltenham on Saturday after being left out of our last home game against Salford City in favour of debutant Owen Dale. Youngster Dale is pushing hard for further starts but Artell says that Powell has not lost confidence.

The boss told us: “I don’t think Daniel has lost confidence. I think confidence is in your own head. You can tell yourself that you are or are not confident.

“We will keeping working with Daniel to make sure that he gets back to doing what makes him successful in games. We will go through his clips with him from Saturday and show him the positive and not so positive things he did. It is all about learning and becoming better.

“I am not worried about it. There are far worst things to worry about in this world and Daniel has a great character and he works hard every day and for his team-mates.”
