David Artell wants his side’s momentum to continue with another good result at Carlisle United this weekend. The Alex boss was pleased that our unbeaten run stretched to five games with a 1-1 draw with Mansfield Town in the Leasing.Com Trophy on Tuesday evening.

Crewe won an extra point for winning the penalty shoot-out, with Dave Richards saving two spot-kicks.

Ahead of our trip to Brunton Park, David told us: “I said to the boys before the game on Tuesday not to lose the game and keep our momentum going. I wanted us to stay in the competition and we also managed to do that so the objectives were met.

“We also played two young lads at full-back and they came through it very well. Some staked their claim for a place and others not so well but no-one performed badly. We didn’t pick up any injures, so that was good.

“It was a pleasing night at Mansfield and now we have to take that into the Carlisle game this weekend.   

“We want to keep going and we roll onto the next one.”#
