Boss: "We Will Learn A Great Deal From Colchester Stalemate"

23 October 2019

David Artell believes it was important that his Crewe Alexandra side didn’t lose to Colchester United last night. The Alex were held to a goalless draw by a well drilled U’s side and had to rely on an injury-time penalty save from Will Jaaskelainen to protect our unbeaten run.

The Railwaymen have now gone eight games undefeated in all competitions and Artell is pleased that we are after not quite doing enough to win the game at Gresty Road. Man-of-the-Match, Ryan Wintle had Crewe’s best two efforts but he shot wide on both occasions.

Artell told crewealex.net: “I thought we were okay without doing enough to win the game. Colchester didn’t do enough to win it either.

“When it is 0-0 in injury-time and the opposition are awarded a penalty then it is a point gained. Colchester were disciplined and set up to stop us playing and they deserve credit for that but we can learn from that experience and move forward. Now the objective will be to win at Forest Green on Saturday and keep that unbeaten run going.”
