David: "No Issue At All With Steven. I Like Him"

11 October 2019

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell says he is looking forward to meeting up with his opposite number Steven Pressley this weekend.

Artell has stressed that there is no issue behind the two managers after they exchanged words on the touchline last season after Jamie Devitt was sent off at Gresty Road.

The war of words continued for a couple of days in the media, but Artell is there is no issue between the two men or the two clubs, especially after they were on the same LMA course in the summer!

Ahead of this weekend’s clash, Artell told crewesalex.net: “There is no problem with Steven at all. What happens on the touchline stays on the touchline and we shook hands and had a beer. That is how it should be.

“I do not have a problem with any manager in this country. It is a tough profession and there is a mutual respect there.

“Steven was on the same LMA coaching course with me in the summer and I spent a week with him and then a couple of days later on as well. I like him, I like his company and he is a really good guy. He is a very experienced manager and he knows his stuff.

“When I saw him I gave him a big hug and we shared a beer and before long, he was asking me about who we wanted to sign!

“We are both winners and want to win but there is no problem between us, it is part of the game when the 90 minutes plus minutes is on and then we shake hands. “
