For the second month in succession, Crewe Alexandra Manager Dave Artell has been nominated for the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month award for September 2019.
He was pipped to the August award by Exeter City's Matt Taylor & is now up against Darrell Clarke (Walsall), Mark Cooper (Forest Green) & Michael Duff (Cheltenham) for the September accolade.
The winner will be announced on Friday 11 October. Good luck again, Dave!
Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month Nominations (September 2019)
David Artell (Crewe Alexandra)
The attacking play he preaches lifted Crewe joint top of Sky Bet League Two with 10 points and 11 goals scored in five matches. His side’s ability to hit on the break was shown away at promotion rivals Grimsby and Cheltenham.
Darrell Clarke (Walsall)
Clarke must have wondered whether he had lost his managerial touch when Walsall began the season poorly. Wins against Morecambe, Scunthorpe and Crawley in a ten-point September will have eased the self-doubt.
Mark Cooper (Forest Green Rovers)
His watertight defence did not concede a single goal in five games as Forest Green moved towards the play-off positions, collecting ten points along the way. The highlight was a convincing 4-0 victory at EFL new boys Salford.
Michael Duff (Cheltenham Town)
The foundations he laid last season have been built on spectacularly so far this campaign. Traditionally strong at home, it was their 2-0 victories at Salford and Plymouth which demonstrated his tactical nous, making 13 points from five games.
