Artell: "I Will Remind The Players About Avoiding Red Cards"

1 October 2019

David Artell has told the club’s official website that he will give his squad a ‘polite reminder’ about keeping 11 players on the pitch. Uncharacteristically, Crewe have had three players dismissed already this season and Artell says that it could harm our ambitions if it was to continue.

Club captain Perry Ng was the latest Alex player to see red following two bookable offences at Cheltenham on Saturday and his dismissal meant that the Alex had to battle for the remaining 26 men with a man less.

The Alex boss told crewealex.net: “I will speak to the squad today about the red cards we have had. It won’t be a telling off as such but more like a polite reminder about their responsibilities.

“We cannot continue to lose a man. It cannot carry on and it is something we need to address. They just have to know where the line is.

“I said my bit to the team on Saturday, in the dressing room and it will be the same message to the squad today. It is not a huge deal and it can happen in football when you are committed but we cannot carry on losing a player every four games.”
