Vital We Continue To Share The Goals Around

8 November 2019

David Artell says it is vital that we continue to share the goals around the squad because those 25/30 goals a season men are hard to find or too expensive.

Crewe have certainly shared the goals around this season with Callum Ainley and Owen Dale becoming the latest players to find the back of the net for the club against Everton Under-21s in the Leasing.com Trophy.

Crewe have had 14 different goalscorers so far this season and Artell is delighted with the way the goals are being shared about in his in-form squad.

Artell told the club’s official website: “It is vital that we have different scorers. We have managed to score goals from all over the pitch and that is what you need to be in the higher regions of the league.

“You need that because we cannot afford a 25/30 man unless we produce one ourselves. We can have a 15 to 20 man but then you would need a couple of 10 to 15 and the a group of them scoring 8 to 10.

“We haven’t scored in the last two league games against Colchester and Port Vale and for us that was deemed as a mini-crisis because of the number of goals we have scored this season.

“We got back to scoring goals and looking a threat again against Everton Under-21s and that is what we have to be going forward.”
