U23 Report: Crewe 0-2 Millwall

11 November 2019

Goals in each half condemned Crewe to a 2-0 defeat to their Millwall counterparts.

Tyler Burey netted in the first half for the away side, before Besart Topalloj doubled the advantage in the second half.

Alex Morris' side did create chances, with Tyreece Onyeka coming close on a number of occassions.

Played at the Alexandra Stadium, it was Crewe who made the better start in the opening stages. Rio Adebisi's shot was saved well by the Millwall goalkeeper, and evaded another touch to send the rebound goalward.

The away side created chances through Ruben Duncan and George Alexander, but neither effort troubled Dave Richards.

Moments before the break, Millwall were ahead. Burey broke into the Crewe box and finished beyond the goalkeeper.

Crewe became more lively in the second half, and almost equalised through Joe Robbins' shot on goal.

Onyeka looked most likely to score for Crewe, and came close with a powerful effort that forced a strong save from Millwall goalkeeper Ryan Sandford.

But it was Millwall who scored the next goal. Topalloj fired brilliantly beyond Richards for the away side's second.

Crewe: Richards, Johnson, Adebisi, Lundstram, Offord, Sass-Davies (Woodthorpe), Lomas (Stubbs), Robbins, Heath, Griffiths, Onyeka (Goodrich).
