Encouraging news over Powell inclusion but Lancashire Ruled Out

David Artell says that the only doubt for tomorrow’s local derby against Port Vale is defender Olly Lancashire, who has been struggling with an ankle injury since facing his old club Swindon Town.

That could see new signing Christian Mbulu involved if his International clearance arrives in time – but David Artell may want more time anyway to implement him into his in-form, first-team squad.

That means there is positive news on winger Daniel Powell, who himself had been struggling with an ankle problem. Powell has felt some discomfort when striking the ball in a certain situation but he is training again freely and could be in contention for a return to first-team action.  

On Powell, Artell only revealed to the club’s website: “Daniel has made good progress but we will have to wait and see if he is involved. The only one we won’t have is Olly. Other than that we are good to go.

“As normal, I will pick a team that I feel has the best chance to win us the game, it is as simple as that.”
