Refocus Work With Charlie Paid Off

11 November 2019

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell said that a refreshing session with Charlie Kirk going into the FA Cup tie against Accrington Stanley got the winger back amongst the goals.

Kirk fired Crewe into the driving seat at the Wham Stadium on Saturday on the stroke of half time after Tom Lowery had picked him out superbly with a cross field pass.

Kirk slotted home his 5th goal of an impressive campaign and Chris Porter finished the job off with a calmly taken penalty in the second half.

Artell told the club’ s official website: “We worked with Charlie and refocused him. We worked on what he hadn’t being doing well and on the things that he was doing well.

“He knew what he had to do and what runs to make and it paid off. We worked hard on it and it was a great finish. It was a terrific move and we were pleased with all the bits before him getting in.

The boss added: “It really was a great goal. “
