"Powell's Injury Is A Strange One"

4 November 2019

Boss explains that ankle injury is restricting winger's motion when kicking in a certain manner.

David Artell has described Daniel Powell’s ankle injury as a ‘strange injury’ but says that the winger is not far off from a return.

Powell has not featured since scoring his first goal for the club with a thunderbolt at Carlisle United.

The former MK Dons and Northampton man has suffered slight ligament damage which has made striking the ball difficult in a certain position. He is still able to run, train and kick a ball.

The Alex boss explained: “Daniel still has this niggle in his ankle and it some ways it is a strange injury.

“He hasn’t suffered severe ligament damage there and that is good news but the injury is not giving him a full range of kicking or shooting. Saying that I don’t think he is too far away and we’ll keep assessing him.”
