Porter: "Important To Bounce Back On Saturday"

21 November 2019

Leading scorer on important week coming up

Crewe Alexandra’s leading scorer, Chris Porter, is hoping to put to bed last weekend’s heavy defeat to Northampton by getting back on track against Morecambe this weekend. Porter notched his 10th goal of the season in last weekend’s disappointing 4-1 defeat but he is more interested in acquiring the three points against Derek Adams’ side to make sure we consolidate our position in the play-off position at least.

Porter, who made his 100th appearance for the club last week at the Sixfields Stadium told crewealex.net: “It was a very disappointing result last weekend because we didn’t play that badly and had a number of chances of our own.

“Now we have a massive game again at home to Morecambe and it is important we bounce back with a good result.

“You could look at the league table and say that Morecambe are down there and should be a good opponent for us, but they have a new manager in and it is never an easy ride against them. If we do not perform then it could be a tough afternoon.

“The confidence is still there and we are ready to go again and put things right. We have had a couple of bad results in the league, so we have to get back on track at the weekend.

“I think we have three great games coming up. Morecambe at home and then Forest Green on Tuesday, and they look like being up there, and then onto the FA Cup and a chance to get into that third round. It is an important week coming up.”
