Morecambe Are Always A Committed Side To Face

20 November 2019

David Artell admits that it will feel a bit strange to be facing a Morecambe side without his close pal Jim Bentley present in some capacity but things move on and the Alex boss is only interested in taking three points this weekend regardless of who their manager is.

Morecambe have recently appointed the successful Derek Adams as their new manager. He has already tasted cup success at Ross County and guided his most recent club, Plymouth into League One before losing his job last April as they went to the brink of relegation.

Adams has already overseen an improvement in results as he tries to lead them away from the relegation drop zone.

Ahead of our meeting at Gresty Road, the Alex boss said: “Morecambe have picked up some results under Derek. They had one just before he took over and had a good draw at Crawley and a result in the cup.

“It may be a managerial bounce or new, fresh ideas but Derek knows the league and is a good manager.

“What I do know is that we will come up against a committed side. That’s what they are about and we will have to match that. It is about what we do.

“If we play well and to the level we can then it doesn’t matter if it is Morecambe or Mansfield, I think we would give anyone a run for their money.”
