Kirk: "We Are Playing With Great Confidence Away From Home Now"

14 November 2019

Winger says hard work on the training ground and a different mind-set has sorted out our away form.

Charlie Kirk is hoping that our impressive away form can continue at Northampton this weekend. The Alex have won six away games already this season in all competitions and Kirk says that it something we worked on to improve after only winning four times on the road during the last campaign.

The vast improvement in our away results has propelled us up the league table with Crewe currently situated in the play-off places.

Kirk feels that with confidence sky high, the Railwaymen have no fear performing away from home.

The winger, who has hit 5 goals so far this season told crewealex.net: “Our away form has been very good and our home form has been good over the last couple of seasons as well, so we just have to keep it going.

“We didn’t win enough away games last season and at the start we were wondering how is this possible because we were playing pretty well but losing by the odd goal.

“We improved after Christmas and managed to win at Mansfield, MK Dons and Swindon and that gave us confidence. We thought we would do better away from home this season because we worked hard at it.

“Now we think we can go anywhere and win, we were losing games we shouldn’t have been last season but we have put that right so far and we need that to carry on at Northampton on Saturday.

Charlie added: “No one things we have cracked it or anything like that but we are playing with great confidence and we don’t fear anyone.”
