Boss hails magnificient fans away at Sixfields
David Artell hailed the supporters away at Northampton Town at the weekend after what he described as ‘their best performance of the season’. The travelling Alex fans never stopped singing during our 4-1 defeat and many remained behind to applaud the team off at the end of the game.
Artell says that the 522 Crewe Alexandra fans, who travelled to the Sixfields Stadium were absolutely magnificent.
The Crewe boss told the club’s official website: “Our crowd who went to Northampton were magnificent. Wow.
“They were magnificent for us. They sang until the 95th minute and I cannot thank them enough. It was their best performance of the season.
“It is easier to sing when you are in the sunshine at Carlisle and you have won 4-2 or you are 2-0 up and all that, but it's another thing to be 3-0 down in 20 minutes and chasing the game. They were terrific for us.
“Now we are back at home on Saturday and hopefully we will get the backing we had again and we can use that to get the three points.
“I think when you have had a bit of adversity, it helps you grow. You learn more from it and it makes you stronger in the long term. “
