Artell: "We Ask Ourselves Questions Every Week, Win or Lose"

19 November 2019

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell says that his team are more than capable of getting over blips quickly. The Railwaymen have only lost two games in the past 12 games in all competitions but have now suffered back-to-back league defeats for the first time this season against Port Vale and Northampton Town.

The Alex boss says he is accustomed to the questioning that comes with losses and says it is part and parcel of the game and the quest to improve.

David told crewealex.net: “I think if someone had offered us two defeats in 12 games we would have taken it. If we lose two of the next 12 I would probably say we would be in the same position in the league and perhaps through to the third round of the FA Cup.

“We have been on a decent run and we have got to go on another one. The questions are there because the two league defeats have come close together. That is fine, we are used to that and that is part of football.

“We get questioned when we win. Those questions come every week and we challenge ourselves. It is just about getting back to winning football matches again and proving people wrong.

“I heard the other day that the bookies have or had ourselves as favourites to win the league with Bradford. The bookies don’t usually get it wrong, so it is up to us to prove that as well.

He added: “It starts again Saturday against Morecambe. We want to put the Northampton result to bed by getting a result.”
