Artell: "The Pressure Is Always There To Win"

29 November 2019

David Artell says that starting as favourites for this weekend’s FA Cup tie at Eastleigh means very little. The Alex boss knows that his side will have to be as professional as they were when they visited Accrington Stanley in the First Round if we are going to progress past the National League side.

The Crewe boss told the club’s official website: “I haven’t looked at the odds but I would imagine Accrington were favourites in the previous round. It doesn’t mean much.

“It’s a game of football. 11 v 11, one ball, one referee and two linesman and anything can happen.

“It will be a tough game. They have a good home record and we have a decent away record, so it should be a cracking cup tie. They will be a tough nut to crack but if we play to our levels and do our job then there is no reason why we cannot be in the hat for the third round.

“The pressure is no different to Forest Green or Northampton. The pressure is always there to win the game. We are a league higher and are expected to get through, so we will have to show that we are.

The boss added: “We know what the incentive is. There is a chance of getting to the third round and earning a fee bob for the Football Club. Eastleigh will pose us some questions and it is up to us to come up with the answers.”
