Artell On Morecambe Test

22 November 2019

Alex boss says his old club will be a 'tough nut to crack'

David Artell admits that Morecambe under their new manager, Derek Adams, will be a ‘tough nut’ to crack this weekend.

Crewe Alexandra will be aiming to get back to winning way in League Two and Artell says that we will have to play to our levels if we are to end a run of two successive defeats in the league.

Artell told the club’s official website: “I go into every game expecting to win. You have to have that mindset.

“Morecambe have a new manager and they will be a tough nut to crack. They may play a different way but we cannot concern ourselves too much with that. It is about how we do. If we play to our levels then it doesn’t really matter about a new manager, the personnel he picks or formation he goes with, because I know we would give anyone a game if we play to potential.

“It is another game, one we want to win. We have three good games coming up in eight days, but they are just games. It is still early in the season.

“If we win all three then great, that would mean six points and a place in the FA Cup third round. Lose all three and there is work to do. There is always work to do even if we win all three.

“It is not as though they are European Championship qualifiers or play-off games where one defeat and it is over.”
