Artell: "Free Week Has Given Us A Chance To Work On A Number Of Things"

22 November 2019

David Artell says that a free week has allowed him and his coaching staff to go through some reminders with his players. Crewe have suffered back-to-back league defeats to Port Vale and Northampton and will be aiming to put that right against Morecambe at home tomorrow.

Artell says that it has been a productive week out on the training ground and with no first team fixture in mid-week, he has been able to work on a collection of things.

The Crewe boss told us: “We have had a free week to work on a few things. We had the Cheshire Senior Cup game on Wednesday and that was a good test for the players on a tricky pitch. It gave us an opportunity to get some minutes into the likes of Daniel Powell, who got through 90 minutes.

“We have had a good week. We have gone through some reminders with the players and gone through a few things. We have worked on defending on set-pieces but it hasn’t only been that. We have worked on a number on things.

“We have three games in 8 days coming up, so it wasn’t overly taxing but there is  plenty to work on because we still want to improve and get better.”
