Artell: "Eastleigh Are Littered With Experienced Pros & We Have To Be Mindful Of That"

29 November 2019

Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell appreciates that Eastleigh’s squad has a collection of experienced senior professionals who have been there and done it.

The Railwaymen travel to the Silverlake Stadium this weekend to tackle the National League side in the second round of the FA Cup and Artell is wary of their threats from all over the pitch.

Artell told crewealex.net: “The Eastleigh squad is littered with experienced professionals, who have been in the league. They know what it is all about and would have played in a lot of FA Cup ties.

“They have Danny (Hollands), Tyrone Barnett, Scott Rendell, Reda Johnson, there are a few of them and we will have to be wary of their threats. They will pose us some questions and we have to stand up to that. We have to be mindful of that because a number of them have experience of this level and above.

“I liked Danny when he was here and I wanted him to stay. He was a terrific pro and I liked the way he conducted himself. He went back to the south coast because of his young family and that is admirable.

“He is a really good player. He has had a terrific career. He has scored 8 goals this season and has an eye for goal so we will have to be mindful of that.

The boss added: “The cameras are there because of the potential of an upset. We want it to be cracking cup tie because of what Crewe Alexandra do. We want it to be a cracking cup tie because of the way we perform. “
