David Artell has told the club’s official website that he is after three points against Port Vale this weekend to keep us top of the league and he is also after the bragging rights for the Alex supporters.
Crewe have now not won a derby game in four and the Valiants did a League double over us last season with two 1-0 wins.
Artell wants to end that barren run with a win at an atmospheric Gresty Road this weekend.
Ahead of the first Cheshire/Staffordshire derby of the season, Artell told the club’s official website: “I don’t think it matters too much that we didn’t have a game last weekend. It was out of hands because of the weather, so we had breather and move on.
“It hasn’t made any difference to our preparation. When it’s Saturday, regardless of who we are playing, it is a chance to get three points and that is what we will try and do.
“We try to not get too carried away with things. For us it is another game and a chance of another three points but we know how important it is for the supporters.
“The fans have been magnificent towards us. I don’t know what the record is for an attendance at home since I got the job but I am sure this weekend will be close to it or better it.
“They will bring plenty, we will have plenty and I cannot express how much of an important role our fans have played this season. They have been terrific.”
