David Artell says that his Crewe Alexandra side ‘didn’t get the critical areas right’ against Northampton last weekend but he is convinced we will get back to winning ways against Morecambe on Saturday.
The Alex were beaten 4-1 by Keith Curle’s Northampton side but it could well have been a different outcome if we had taken our own chances and defended two set-plays better in the opening 20 minutes.
The Crewe boss told the club’s official website: “We played well enough to have won on Saturday and created enough chances to have won two games but we didn’t. It was a loss and it goes in the lost column and it hurts.
“We were not good enough in the critical areas, at those set-pieces and then taking our own chances and that cannot happen.
“We won’t be papering over any cracks and we will go through it will them but you don’t become a good team over night and you don’t become a bad one either.
“We have to be better. We have to prepare better and perform better. I thought we actually played well on Saturday but didn’t do enough in both boxes.
“Now it is about getting back on the horse again this weekend against Morecambe and getting back into the race.”
