Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell says that our former loanee defender Corey Whelan is someone he would be interested in talking to this summer if we were to lose right-back Perry Ng inthe window.
Ng remains the club’s first choice right-back but Artell says that if he was to move on this summer after being named as Crewe’s Player-of-the-Year then the availability of Whelan would come into the frame.
The former Liverpool Under-23 defender has been released by the Champions League Finalists and Whelan has already gained invaluable experience of League Two football whilst on loan at Crewe last season and Yeovil the season before.
Artell told the club’s official website: “Corey is a player we know and he is still relatively young. He did well when he was on loan with us but still has a bit to go. He also went on loan at Yeovil and did well there.
“We have Perry Ng here but if that was to change then who knows. That is the predicament we find ourselves in but he is someone we know about certainly.”
