Miller Decision Was A Mutual One

Assistant Manager explains decision to make Shaun available on a free transfer this summer.

Kenny Lunt says that the club are ‘open’ to Shaun Miller leaving the club this summer after the forward held discussions with the management about his future involvement.

Miller has found it hard to hold down a regular place in David Artell’s side this season mainly due to the form of Chris Porter and Jordan Bowery and the switch of formation to 4-3-3.

Miller, 31, has been made available for free transfer after positive talks between the relevant parties.

Lunt explained to the club’s official website: “We are open to Shaun leaving this summer and it was a mutual decision. We have agreed that if a club is out there for him and he can get fixed up then we wouldn’t stand in his way.

“If it doesn’t happen and he doesn’t leave then we know that Shaun will give everything for the club like he has always done. It hasn’t quite worked out for him last season but we know he is a good player and you don’t have the career he has had and the clubs he has played for if you are not a good player.

“We can only see what happens and I think we would be happy either way.”
