"Green Talks And Signing Was So Straightforward"

3 May 2019

Boss says that experienced Green and his agent showed how contract talks and signing should be conducted.

David Artell has revealed that talks with his veteran midfielder player, Paul Green, were some of the easiest he has experienced as a manager. Green has agreed a new 12-month contract with the club and the boss says that he wishes all contract negotiations and agreements were as straight forward as that.

Artell told the club’s official website: “The talks with Paul and his agent were so straightforward. He has been in the game a long time and he knows the score.  His agent was good as well, very co-operative.

“I spoke to Paul. He asked if his agent could read it over to see if there wasn’t anything hidden in there. I said fine. He read it, came back and said it was fine like we knew it would be. Paul said he was delighted to sign and I told him that the paperwork was ready and off you go.

“It was as simple and easy as that and I wish they were all like that.

He added: “Instead on the of the other side of the spectrum you can have the agent of 18-year-olds, who have not done a day in the game, asking for ridiculous things. It is so they can prove a point to their player and all I can say is they can ask.”
