Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says that you have to ‘remove the emotion out of it’ when it comes to offering new contracts.

The Alex boss is in the process of assessing all his options ahead of the announcement of the club’s summer retain list.

David told crewealex.net:  “For different players and agents you have to handled things differently. I have always said that there is no science behind it. It is an art form.

“What I can say is that every decision I do make it in the best interest of the football club. You have to take the emotion out of it and it can be difficult because we are all humans and have feelings.

“There have been players here who have been here a long time or players who only been here for a year or two but it is always hard. You tend to remember the bad news ones rather than the good news ones.

“All you can be is an honest as possible and as fair as possible.”
