Boss Isn't Ruling Out Extended Loans This Summer

16 May 2019

David Artell has told the club’s official website that he is after permanent signings at this stage of his recruitment drive but has not ruled out possible loan deals later on.

Artell is looking to add to his squad this summer after deciding not to renew the contracts of a number of his first team squad, including defender Michael Raynes and striker Alex Nicholls.Captain George Ray elected to move on after rejecting our offer of a new deal and Ben Garratt had his contract offer withdrawn after missing his final set deadline.

Artell told the club’s official website: “At this stage we are looking at permanent deals at the moment but that is not to say that we wouldn’t look at the loan market as well. It is an opportunity to get players in for six months or a year and pay them the wages. It can be a cheaper alternative but is all about identifying them and affording them.

“It is not easy and we have a strategy to make sure we are not left with the slim pickings at the end. We have to make our choices wisely.

“We have an opportunity to improve the team this summer and that is what we aim to do.”
