Artell: "Wouldn't Worry If Will Needs To Play"

22 March 2019

David Artell has told the club’s official website that he would have no fears of playing his young goalkeeper Will Jaaskelainen if required.

The Finnish stopper has been recalled from his latest loan spell at Nantwich Town to deputise for the injured David Richards, who is set to undergo surgery on a shoulder injury next week.

Jaaskelainen, who has once against performed admirably for the Dabbers has been recalled to offer cover and competition to number one Ben Garratt.

The Crewe boss told the club’s official website:  “Will has returned from Nantwich and I would have no hesitation in playing in the first team If I need to because he is a good young goalkeeper.

“That is why has been out on loan for the best part of two seasons, to play games and help his development. I am sure he will be disappointed that he could be on the bench for us instead of playing on a Saturday afternoon for Nantwich but needs must at the moment and we could need him.

“There are eight games to go, so we’ll see what happens.”
