Young substitute Owen Dale netted his first senior goal for the club in the 6-1 drubbing of Crawley Town at the weekend and boss David Artell is hoping for more of the same from the forward.

Dale completed the scoring with a smart turn and shot that took a sight deflected to take it past Glenn Morris in the Crawley goal - but Artell was particularly pleased with his young players’ intent to get his own name on the scoresheet.

Following the 6-1 win at Gresty Road, Artell said:

“Owen’ first touch made the goal, then he whacked it on target and it took a nick. If you do that you have a chance of scoring.

“His purpose and intent, and clarity of thought, they were the pleasing things in that goal.

“He really meant to get it out of his feet and whack it and it has flown in.

“That is what he has to do, he has to come on and look lively and dangerous. He did that and got his first goal and now he has to build on that.”
