David Artell is not expecting his defenders, Nicky Hunt, Harry Pickering and the on-loan Aaron Taylor-Sinclair to be ruled out for too long.
All three were late causalities for our home game against Northampton at the weekend. The on-loan Jamie Sterry came into the team to make his ‘second debut’ for Crewe at left-back in the 2-0 loss to the Cobblers.
Youngster Travis Johnson was named on the substitutes bench for the first time in his career.
Artell says that his strength in depth can cope with those presently missing.
David told the club’s official website: “Those players won’t be out for long. Friday is the worst day for injuries and we lost three over two days but it is what it is.
“That is the benefit of having a decent squad. We have players who can come in and fill those gaps and step up when needed.
“The three who were missing on Saturday are not that serious and it will be great to have them fit again but we can cope if they are not.”
