Mid Cheshire Hospitals Become Official Charity Partner

7 March 2019

The Railwaymen are pleased to welcome the Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity to the Crewe Alexandra family as the Club’s new Official Charity Partner.

The registered charity supports local people, groups and businesses to donate or raise funds for Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which brings good quality, safe and effective healthcare to the people of Cheshire and manages Leighton in Hospital in Crewe, as well as Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford and Northwich’s Victoria Infirmary.

It employs almost 5,000 members of staff, has around 540 hospital beds, and provides a range of services including A&E, maternity, outpatients, therapies, and children's health.

The Football Club is proud of its involvement within the local community and this partnership further highlights Crewe Alexandra’s commitment to supporting local people – in particular their health and wellbeing.

The partnership will involve Crewe Alexandra supporting both the charity and the trust in promoting their events and fundraising activities as well as helping to raise awareness of the charity and its work in the local community.

Crewe Alexandra Chairman, John Bowler, said: “On behalf of the Football Club, I am delighted to welcome Mid Cheshire Hospitals into the Crewe Alexandra family as our new charity partner.

“We pride ourselves on working closely with the local community and the Trust also do great work within our area, providing extensive healthcare for the residents of Crewe and surrounding areas.

“We are looking forward to working with Mid Cheshire Hospitals and developing a close relationship.”

Dennis Dunn MBE, Chairman of the Hospitals said: “I am delighted that Mid Cheshire Hospitals and Crewe Alexandra FC are forging an ever closer association for the benefit of the South Cheshire communities that we serve together.

“The support of the Alex makes a tangible difference particularly to our young patients when they meet their football idols and the generosity of the Alex supporters for their local hospital is legendary.”

Emma Robertson, MCH Charity Manager, said: “We’re thrilled to announce that Crewe Alex football club have chosen to support Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity in this way.

“We know that many Alex supporters or their loved ones will have at some time been a patient at the Trust, so this is a great opportunity for us spread the word to them about how they can get involved with the charity and about the work that we do to enhance hospital and community care for local people.

“We’ve already had lots of discussions with the club about how we can work together and we’re really excited about developing our relationship with them and their fans.”

The charity’s current major appeal is the Everybody Knows Somebody dementia appeal which will fund various projects across the Trust aimed at improving the care and experience for people living with dementia.
