Alex boss praise for The Railwaymen Supporters Club Food Bank initiative.
Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell has praised the Railwaymen Supporters Club food bank initiative that was first introduced before our home game against Northampton Town.
The Supporters’ group is encouraging fans and the local community to bring items to the Football Club for the first home game of every month. The first collection was a great success and Artell, Chairman, John Bowler and the local Mayor were all in attendance ahead of kick-off on Saturday.
David told crewealex.net: “The food bank idea is a terrific one and when I went out with a few items at quarter past one there were already a load of bags already there. It was a terrific gesture.
“It all helps the local community and we are a community club. It is great to see everyone prepared to give to those who are less fortunate than ourselves and I am sure it will be greatly appreciated.”
Mark Beavan, Chairman of the Supporters Club, Said: "we were completely blown away by the support and generosity of fans, players, management, staff and the general public.
"We received items donated from all areas of the football club and even accepted a delivery from a fan currently living in Singapore. I’m not sure how we are going to follow this, but with your help, we will do our utmost at the next event, which is scheduled for Saturday 13th April before the home game against Notts County.
"On behalf of The Railwaymen – thank you so much.”
