Defensive Injuries Ease Ahead Of Tranmere Trip

7 March 2019

David Artell is hoping that some of his injured defenders will be available for selection for our Friday night fixture at Tranmere Rovers.

The Alex boss lost three defenders in the space of two days towards the end of last week which led to a defensive reshuffle against Northampton Town. Crewe lost the game 2-0 at Gresty Road.

The on-loan Jamie Sterry showed his versatility by switching across to left-back for his first start since re-joining us on loan from Newcastle United and youngster Travis Johnson was named in the senior squad for the first time in his career.

Artell is hoping that the slight injures obtained by Nicky Hunt, Aaron Taylor-Sinclair and Harry Pickering will have improved to allow them to declare themselves available for selection.

Meanwhile, midfielder James Jones completed 70 minutes for the club’s Under-23s away at Millwall on Tuesday. Jones has not featured since sustaining an ankle injury away at MK Dons last month.

Alex Morris’ side were really unfortunate to draw the game after conceding in stoppage time after Ollie Finney had given us the lead in London.
