Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell says that contract talks can be as complex as Brexit negotiations!

Artell says that he has been in constant dialogue with the players heading out of contract this summer and their agents but he stresses that these things can take time.

The Crewe boss says that the out of contract trio, Ben Garratt, George Ray and Jordan Bowery are aware of the club’s intent this summer and the ball remains in their court.

David told crewealex.net: “We will keep going and see where we get to. It can be like a game of chess and can be as complex as Brexit negotiations sometimes. It is never easy and there is never a time really where we can say like it and lump it.

“There may come a time when we get a ‘yes’ deal or the draw bridge may be taken up and we move on to someone else. It can be a complex matter but the players are aware of our intentions and the dialogue continues. “
