Boss Praise For Outstanding Wintle

18 March 2019

David Artell says that his consistent midfielder, Ryan Wintle, can feel hard done by that he was overlooked for the sponsors Man-of-the-Match award on Saturday. The accolade went to the influential Paul Green after he netted the fourth goal in our 6-1 win - but the Crewe boss believed that Wintle was our best performer in a stunning win at Gresty Road.

Following the 6-1 win, Artell said: “I think Ryan can feel a bit hard done by that he didn’t get the Man-of-the-Match award because he was the best player on the pitch by a distance.

“I reckon it must have been Mr. and Mrs. Green sponsoring the game but all joking aside, Ryan was terrific. He has been our best player for the last two months and he has really found a consistent level.

“He reads the game so well and is always effective for us in there. He breaks things up and also gets on the ball and gets us playing. If he can carry on at the level he is going, he is going to have a really bright future in the game.”
