Boss: "I Don't Want To Take The Edge Away From Ray's Game"

15 March 2019

David Artell says that his captain has to learn from his suspension but he stressed that he does not want George Ray to move away from playing on the edge. Ray collated his 10th yellow card of the season which will result in him missing Saturday’s home game at Crawley and then the away game at Mansfield Town on 23rd of March.

David told the club’s official website: “All players play close to the edge and George is no different. He plays close to that edge and I don’t want to take that away from him, but he has to learn from it. His decision making can be better to stop him getting booked.

“He has had some silly bookings, usually for tugging shirts but the one on Tuesday was a stupid challenge. The guy was three foot to the corner flag and it was reckless. He wasn't going anywhere.

“Now he has to sit out two games and that presents an opportunity to someone else, so that could be extended beyond two games depending on how they do. I don’t know. “
