David Artell has told the club’s official website that we will 'just have to cope without' our captain, George Ray, after he was shown his 10th yellow card of the season.
It means our consistent centre-half will now have to serve a two match suspension starting with the visit of Crawley Town on Saturday.
Artell believes that one door closing will re-open one for someone else. The Crewe boss said following Ray’s caution at Cambridge: "It was a stupid booking and I'm pretty certain his other nine were pretty silly.
"He has to serve his punishment, but I haven't got any worries about that."
