Crewe Alexandra boss David Artell says he is grateful to have a selection problem ahead of the visit of Cheltenham Town at the weekend. The Crewe boss has a nice problem to consider with George Ray returning from his two-match suspension.
In Ray’s absence, Nicky Hunt deputised superbly again to help the club to back-to-back victories against Crawley and Mansfield.
Callum Ainley came off the bench to score twice at One Call Stadium on Saturday and Tom Lowery has hit some good form of late, most notably away at Cambridge before a slight foot injury prevented him being available for the Crawley game.
Young midfielder Ollie Finney has also done well in his last two starts after earning a promotion to first team duties after being the stand out performer for the club’s Under-23s for much of the season.
The boss joked: “We are writing to the FA to see if we can play 14 men on Saturday!
“It is a nice situation to be in and that is what you want as a manager. We want everyone pushing for a place and we have players ready to go in if necessary.
“They have to train properly and work hard because there is someone waiting to take their place and that is the competition you want to create”
