Artell: "Progress Has Been Made But We Need To Better On The Road Next Season"

27 March 2019

David Artell has told the club’s official website that his Crewe Alexandra side have shown that they can now go away from home and compete against the best teams in the division.

The Railwaymen’s 2-1 win at Mansfield Town comes on the back of a 1-0 win over MK Dons back in January and Artell is adamant that we have got to be more productive on the road next season.

The Alex have dropped numerous points on the road that we shouldn’t have and that has inevitably made it an uphill struggle to break into the play-off positions.

David said: "Before the Mansfield game,  I told them if it's not going to be this season, it has to be next season, where these kind of games happen every week.

"Where we go to Colchester and say 'here we are, Crewe are in town'.

"When we are at home and Mansfield are in town and we are going 'big game'.

"We want big games every week. Let's see what we are made of.

"I thought (Mansfield) was our biggest game of the season, it showed me and Kenny (Lunt) where we are.

The boss added: "It's progress. Are we world beaters? Of course we're not. But you feel progress, we all feel it.”
