Lunt: "Younger Ones Know They Have To Make An Impact Again"

6 June 2019

Kenny Lunt has told the club’s official website that the club’s young professionals will have to progress again and make more of an impact next season.

The club’s assistant manager says that they will have to become even more consistent if Crewe Alexandra are going to break into the top seven.

Lunt told crewealex.net: “The time comes when you are 22, 23 and you have a lot of experience in terms of games.

“Most of our players in that bracket have played 40+ games last season and have played over 100 games overall.

“They are not getting those niggling injuries or are needing to come out of the team because their form has dipped. We can rely on them to be there every week and know they have to kick on and have even more of an impact. They are not the young kids anymore because there is a new bunch coming up behind them.

“That is what this club is about, giving opportunities to young players and giving them the chance to find their feet. We will have some coming through who will probably play four or five games and need a breather at some point. That is the process and all players are different.

“Whoever plays they know they have to have a positive effect to keep their place and those who are not in the team have to push the others and do better to get in the team.”
