Lunt: "A Versatile Defender Would Improve Our Options"

24 June 2019

Kenny Lunt has told the club’s official website that a defender who can play more than one position would certainly add something to the Crewe Alexandra squad this summer.

The club have already signed the former Swindon Town captain Olly Lancashire but we remain on the look-out for another centre-half after George Ray, Michael Raynes and Brad Walker departed the club.

Assistant manager Lunt says that another utility player would be beneficial at the back but not essential.

Lunt told the club’s official website: “We have signed Olly this summer and Perry (Ng) can also play there if needed but we are looking at all options and another defender would improve our options.

“A versatile player who could also play at full-back would help us but firstly we are just looking for good players.

“It is difficult because we have some good defenders here. We would be hard pushed to find better full-backs than Perry and Pixie (Harry Pickering) and then at centre-half we have Eddie (Nolan) and now Olly. We also have young Billy Sass-Davies who did well for us at the end of the season.

“We need cover and competition for every position and that is what we will look to have. As we have always said those who deserve to be in the team will play and it is up to them to hold onto the shirt.”
