Kenny Lunt has told the club’s official website that we will continue to actively look for new forward players. The club’s assistant manager says that the uncertainty of the futures of the out-of-the-contract Jordan Bowery and the available for transfer, Shaun Miller, will not interfere too greatly with the club’s recruitment drive.
The club’s assistant manager believes that the club are right to compile a list of potential targets as a contingency back-up to either player or both departing this summer.
Bowery has been offered a new deal by the club but hasn’t agreed to extend his stay at Gresty Road yet and Miller is available for a transfer with a year of his contract to run after finding it difficult to break into our 4-3-3 formation.
Kenny explained to us: “Nothing has really changed with Jordan or Shaun. We will have to see what happens but they know that we won’t wait forever. We cannot afford to and we are looking at other options just in case. We have a list of players in every position and it is the same for the forwards.
“If they do stay then that’s great. We would be delighted to have both of them here and playing to their potential at the start of next season but we also have to look at things if that is not the case.
“Of course, it cannot drag on and on and there will come a time when we will have to move on and it could become too late for Jordan to agree to the contract or not. It is something we have to deal with as we go on but at this time of year, people are away on holiday and it is relatively quiet.”
