Kenny: "There Has Been Some Interest In Shaun Miller"

5 June 2019

Kenny Lunt says that other EFL clubs have declared an interest in signing striker Shaun Miller this summer but that it is still early days in the transfer market.

Miller has been made available for transfer after finding it difficult to secure a regular place in David Artell’s starting eleven last season.

Miller, who was limited to 16 starts and 17 substitute appearances found his chances disrupted by a change of system to accommodate Chris Porter and youngsters Charlie Kirk and Callum Ainley in a 4-3-3 formation. Miller still managed to score 3 goals, including a superb solo effort against Cambridge United.

The club’s assistant manager has also reiterated that the staff would be more than happy to have Miller remain at the club and fight for his place with his performances.

Kenny told the club’s official website: “Shaun is an experienced player who has scored a fair few goals in his career, so there are obviously clubs interested.

“They will be after him but it has to be the right club for Shaun and the right one for us to let him go to.

“It’s also a situation where, if Shaun’s here at the start of the season, we’ll still be delighted to have him.

“The way we were playing in the back half of last season, he didn’t quite fit into our system.

Kenny added: “If you ask Shaun I’m sure he’d say himself he could have done better when he got his chances, but everyone knows he is a good player so it’s not surprising.”
